Chakras
Chakras
[edit | edit source]Chakras are energy centers within the human subtle body that regulate the flow of life force, often referred to as prana, chi, or spiritual energy. Each chakra governs different aspects of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
When the chakras are open and balanced, energy flows freely, supporting harmony and health on all levels.
Origins and Meaning
[edit | edit source]The word chakra (Sanskrit: चक्र) means "wheel" or "disk." Chakras are traditionally visualized as spinning vortices of energy, aligned along the spine — from the base to the crown of the head.
The chakra system originates from ancient Indian spiritual teachings, especially within Yoga, Tantra, and Ayurveda. Over time, it has been embraced worldwide in practices like Energy Healing, Reiki, and Holistic Therapy.

Balancing the Chakras
[edit | edit source]When chakras are overactive, underactive, or blocked, they may create emotional, energetic, or physical imbalances.
Practices to harmonize the chakras include:
- Meditation and breathwork
- Chakra-specific affirmations and mantras
- Energy healing (e.g., Reiki, crystal therapy)
- Yoga postures (asana) targeting each chakra
- Sound healing and frequency work
- Use of essential oils, color therapy, or nature immersion
Chakra Symbolism
[edit | edit source]Each chakra is traditionally represented by a lotus flower with a specific number of petals and Sanskrit syllables. These symbols reflect deeper esoteric truths about the human journey and energetic anatomy.
Extended Chakra Systems
[edit | edit source]Some traditions recognize additional chakras:
- Earth Star Chakra (below the root) – grounding into Gaia
- Soul Star Chakra (above the crown) – higher consciousness
- Hand and Foot Chakras – used in energy healing
